Hermes is the messenger of the Gods. He is the son of Zeus and Maia. He created the first l lyre out of a tortoise shell. He is very mischievous. In one story, he stole one of Apollo’s cattle on the day he was born. Hermes is the god of travel, language, sleep, fertility, wealth, luck and thieves. His Roman equivalent is Mercury. The name “Hermes” means “Pile of stones”.
