Hephaestus
Once upon a time there was a hill.
Not a hill, a mountain.
On that mountain, called Olympus, the lady Hera was giving birth. She gave birth to Hephestos, the god of fire. Lady Hera, displeased with the misshapen child, cast him from Olympus. Baby Hephestos flew for a full day before he was caught by some ocean nymphs. The nymphs cared for Hephestos, who built his own very complex toys and jewelry, which had the beauty he lacked. In time, Hephestos returned to Mount Olympus, where he constructed most of the gods legendary weapons. Then, one fateful day, his father Zeus and mother Hera were arguing.Trying to quell the conflict, Hephestos put his hand on his father and asked for peace. Outraged and acting on instinct, the mighty Zeus punched Hephestos off Olympus.
Hephestos flew for 7 days, such was the power of the blow. Finally, he smashed into a faraway island. Fuming with rage, Hephestos constructed a throne for each god, which flew to Olympus. On Olympus, the gods sat in their thrones, which had just arrived. As Hera settled into her throne, it suddenly secured her to it with thick bars of unbreakable adamantine and turned upside down. The gods begged him to release Hera, but Hephestos would not comply.
Finally, he released Hera on the condition that he get to marry the goddess of love, Aphrodite.
